Who We Are – Mbaitu Inc.

Mbaitu Inc. is a community-driven organization based in South Eastern Kenya, dedicated to creating lasting impact through education support, food security, and community welfare initiatives.

Education Support

We empower students by covering high school tuition fees, providing school supplies, and assisting with other educational expenses. Our goal is to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial challenges.

Agriculture & Food Security

We collaborate with farmers in need through our Seed Sustainability Program. Under this model, farmers receive seeds at no cost and, after harvest, return a portion of the seeds. These are redistributed to support other farmers, fostering a cycle of self-reliance, community sharing, and sustainable agriculture across the region.

This initiative is proudly supported by the diaspora community from South Eastern Kenya and friends of Mbaitu Inc., who contribute resources and expertise to sustain and expand the program.

Community Welfare

Our members support one another through a welfare program that strengthens community bonds and provides a safety net during times of need.

Our Mission

Mbaitu Inc. empowers communities in South Eastern Kenya by promoting education and food security. Through scholarships, seed distribution, and sustainable agriculture initiatives, we work to uplift families and create sustainable change. We also unite the South Eastern Kenya diaspora in the USA, Canada & Europe to share expertise, resources, and opportunities that strengthen connections and impact back home.

  • Share professional expertise with each other and our counties.
  • Promoting each other’s businesses and talents.
  • Promoting our culture through events and social media.
  • Giving back to our counties.
  • Creating a support system for each other.

Our Vision

Ongoing Fund Drives

To support our work kindly find more information below.

Scholarship Drive

The Mbaitu Inc. Scholarship and Education Fund empowers children and youth across the South Eastern counties of Kenya by providing access to quality education. Through this fund, students are able to attend high school and pursue their dreams, helping to break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities for future generations.

As part of our give-back model, students supported through the program volunteer once they join college and continue to support the vision after graduation. This ensures that other students in similar circumstances can also benefit from the fund—sustaining a continuous cycle of growth, gratitude, and empowerment.

Food Security Drive

The Mbaitu Inc. Seed and Food Security Drive works with farmers to strengthen household food security across South Eastern Kenya. Initially launched in response to the food challenges brought on by COVID-19, the program continues to empower farmers through seed distribution, training, and sustainable agricultural practices.

Under the Seed Sustainability Program, farmers receive seeds at no cost and, after harvest, return one or more bags through their local distribution center. These are redistributed to support other farmers during the next planting season—creating a self-sustaining cycle of community sharing and resilience.

Looking ahead, our long-term plan is to expand these efforts through water harvesting systems and borehole sinking projects, developed in partnership with local communities to meet their priority needs. These initiatives will ensure sustainable access to water for both farming and household use, further strengthening food systems and livelihoods across the region.

Together, we can make education accessible, strengthen food security, and build resilient communities in South Eastern Kenya.

Success Stories

Food Security

Due to unreliable rains in the three counties, farmers face challenges such as poor rains and also seeds, we have continued to provide seeds to needy families and hope that soon we will be able to address water concerns.

After Food Drive Projects

1. House for Mzee

When we went to distribute seeds and food in Mtito andei, the volunteer team was very gracious to take some to the sick and elderly, one of them was an elderly father who lived alone in a box house. After the food drive our board agreed to build a home for him which we did after the railway donated to him a piece of land. After construction we also did groceries and bought furniture for his new home, a water tank and a few chickens to enable him to make a living. Below kindly find some of the pictures from this project.

2. Church

One of the churches that hosted our food drive suffered loss when the roof of the already old church was carried away during a storm. the board again agreed to build a church. The congregation assisted as much as they could with the labor and provided the water and resources available to them, we then supported where they were not able. The congregation was able to move from worshiping under a tree to worshiping in their new church. They also went to host a second and third food drive under their Pastor Festus Kemuti.

Higher Education Loan board (HELB) Partnership With Mbaitu

We are pleased to share Mbaitu inc. partnership with the Higher Education Loan board (HELB) With this partnership school fees for our Mbaitu inc. sponsored students will be paid for the January 2022 semester. We will also explore ways in which our sponsored youth can access loans for their college education. We encourage all our members and Kenyans in the diaspora who took loans from HELB and have not yet paid them back to repay so that the youth in higher learning institutions can access the same benefit.
